TCPA University offers free resources based on public information and personal experience to help everyday citizens stand up for their rights against invasive Telemarketers. They specialize in telecommunication privacy rights according to local and federal statutes, particularly the United States Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) of 1991.
TCPA University’s mission is to help end consumer abuse and to help others lay claim to the compensation they deserve – all without needing to hire a lawyer.
How TCPA University got started
Sarah lived with her phone on silent and turned upside down for 25 years.
She was like many of you – an educated, hard-working, law-abiding citizen just trying to get by.
Yet like many of you, she felt powerless and was unware of her basic rights.
Bombarded by the constant ringing from unsolicited phone calls and bright lights..
The calls and texts that notified her even when her phone was on silent.. All day. All night.
She didn’t know what to do. She needed to get her work done. She needed undisturbed sleep.
She also needed to answer phone calls from family and friends and to respond to important health and financial notices.
The problem was that most calls were from Telemarketers.
So for over two decades, she kept her phone on silent and flipped upside down.
Then one day, everything changed.
The Turning Point
After 25 years of turning her phone to silent and flipped upside down, Sarah had kids of her own that were given phones of their own.
Their phones rang and beeped constantly, and she was shocked by how quickly their phone numbers landed on spam lists.
She thought about taking their phones away, but they had them so they could contact each other quickly in case of an emergency.
Then one day she opened her 9 year old daughter’s phone to find something that changed everything.
There in her 9 year old daughter’s text messages lied advertisement links to pornography.
Enough was enough.
Sarah was livid.
Sarah finally stood up to Telemarketers
At this point it was no longer just about her own disturbance of peace.
It was now about protecting the privacy and safety of her children and her family.
It was about standing up for herself and for the people she cared about most.
It was about enforcing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991, established
to protect our rights to privacy, safety, productivity, and good night’s sleep
(Not to mention the ability to use the phones we pay for!)
She finally took action. It wasn’t easy at first, but eventually she learned how to do it efficiently.
Since then, she has taken telemarketing companies like this to court one phone number at a time, resulting in well-deserved compensation for the damages.
Those dollar signs remind her of what her rights were worth. A lot! It’s what your rights are worth too.
And you know what? Sara’s just like you.
She’s not a lawyer and she never went to law school.
Now you can too
If you’ve experienced anything like her story, you are probably just as fed up as she was. We don’t want their auto warranty calls. We don’t qualify for that special program. We are not interested in that time share pitch. And no.. we don’t need a loan! We just want to be left alone.
She has always had positive experiences with judges, but the legal system is full of complications, and she has had to reinvent the wheel many times, learning the hard way until she got it right.
Now she wants to make your journey less arduous. She wants to share her experience with all of you and help you fight back against invasive corporations.
